Product description

The Ingstad is a modern back country ski with a generous sidecut built for speed and responsive turns.

An ideal ski for demanding descents, the Ingstad is equally at home on extended traverses across flat terrain. Its versatility comes from its moderate grip pocket and a pronounced Nordic Rocker and tapered tip, making it stable, easy to turn and offering control in deep snow and demanding terrain.

The ski’s triple core of paulownia and poplar allows a low weight: fractionally over 2kg for a pair of 200cm skis.

Ingstad skis are equipped with Skinlock, ready for an X-Skin to be attached in an instant for climbing. For this ski, we recommend a 58mm X-Skin in nylon for wet and steep terrain or a narrower mohair skin (45mm) for cold temperatures and flat terrain.

Helge Ingstad, one time Governor of Greenland and Svalbard, was known as a trapper, polar hero, and scientist. He published several best-sellers about hunting in Canada, Greenland and Svalbard. Through this work he contributed to the creation to the heroic representations of the hunter’s adventurous life. Ingstad was also a researcher with a particular interest in the history and ethnography of the Arctic who contributed to our knowledge of the cultures of polar societies and the Norse settlements of North America.

Choosing the right length (see chart)

Ski length is determined according to body weight and height. The table below is only a guide, however – experience, skill, terrain and individual needs can all influence your choice of length.

Generally speaking, moving through rugged terrain calls for shorter skis than the open mountain plateau. And for beginners, short skis are easier to control. If you’re mainly skiing along tracks, length isn’t the most crucial factor. For good float on deep snow, a slighter wider ski is useful. Lighter skiers might consider a shorter ski; heavier skiers a longer ski. Skiers with loads such as backpacks and sledges might consider a longer ski.

Good skis even on harder surfaces. The disadvantage is that it does not fit into a traditional track groove due to its width. (....albeit a purchased feature)

Works very well for its intended use. This winter, these skis were worn for about 100 km. You shouldn't wear these on any soft snow.

They excel on both soft and hard snow. After these, there is no going back to sliding snowshoes, which are really heavy to lift up when they sink. It also works well with OAC universal bindings, so you can choose the shoe according to the weather. I also bought a holding hair, but at least on the gentle lands and the strong fell spirit, I haven't even needed it. I would bet that the soft, sinking fell slope is a hair's playing field when it's steep.

Magnificent skis, lighter than my Fishers of the same size. I hope to use it for that long.

It worked well in the first test, and the load-bearing capacity is even better than expected. Ski quite agile even in denser forest. Still untested in hilly terrain.

The skis felt good and functional after one use experience. It was much easier to manage in the terrain than long hunts.

Once used in Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park (last spring). The first downhill skis, so there is no comparison base, but they work excellently in the fells. The edges bite nicely, the glide was good and I managed on my own route without skins almost the whole way. There weren't many marks on the bottom, but when I looked more closely at the top, I noticed that there were notches and other marks. I don't think I hit them anywhere, so are they soft/sensitive material, or was the user at fault - hard to say. Anyway, here's a big recommendation, right? on skis!

It works great both with stock and spring slush. The scales take a good hold and the hairs only have to be put in on longer piles.

Seems pretty good. The result of the work is high-quality in every way! I took it with a normal BC bandage, so no Magnum, seems to fit well.
