Product description

Versatile BC ski intended for long traverses in steep and demanding terrain. Ingstad is equipped with a moderate wax pocket and a Nordic rocker/taper. This makes Ingstad easy to handle in deep snow and demanding terrain. Ingstad is produced in a light weight wood core and the total weight is only 2.050g (200cm).

Ingstad has a insert for X-skin installation. A unique solution for installation of climbing skins in the center of the ski. We recommend a 58mm X-skin for this model in Mohair or Nylon.

Helge Ingstad was known as Trapper, Polar Hero, Scientist, and as Governor of Greenland and Svalbard. He released several best sellers about wildlife capturing in Canada, Greenland and Svalbard. Through this work he contributed to the creation to the heroic representations of the hunters’ adventures life. Ingstad was also an administrator and a polar researcher with particular interest in the northern areas’ history and ethnography. He researched the cultural circumstances to people in the poles and gained new knowledge about the Norse settlements in America.

The skis are great and Varuste's prices and selection are good. However, it takes time to send products to northern Sweden with UPS. It is transferred to a regional company and usually takes 12 days.

Just finished a 2 week trip with the Ingstad skis. Really enjoyed the skis they were responsive and turned well. Fitted rottefella chilli bindings which again worked well. Åsnes shorts skins fitted easily and quickly, only down side was the 58mm wide skins (recommend by Åsnes) came right to the edge of the ski and gave little down hill control. Lost one, as came off, probably due to snow getting under. Would next time get small 45mm for more glide on flat and less likely to get snow under edge. Overall very pleased.

Absolutely great skis, I've usually used them lubricated, but the hairs also work, although they take quite a lot of slippage! Really good skis in all respects.

A really pleasant ski to drive, which offers a good compromise between glide and control. In addition it is super light and beautiful as a heart.

I finally had the chance to try out these amazing skis yesterday and had lots of fun on fresh snow minus 10 celsius. Skis are light weight and slide/grip well. So far so good. Impatient to try them again soon. No regret.
