The battery lasts well and the screen is more generous. The previous 1000 and some 800 series suffer from battery life, especially in winter when you need a backlight. Some people praise the newer user interface, I don't see anything in it that would turn me on, the navigation of the main page is not the thing for me, but the data while cycling.

I initially had a Garmin Edge 540 Solar. I didn't like its user experience and somehow the screen felt small. With 1040, both problems were fixed. In addition, this was the first time that the installation of the Garmin device went well the first time, so the device has left a good feeling. It could be that I could get by with the 840, but when there was a price difference between the two when ordering only 70e more, I decided to upgrade the 540 directly to the 1040 instead of the 840. I feel it was worthy of a bigger screen. I don't feel that battery life is of great importance to me. But now I can see the map better on the screen and according to my understanding, you can also add other information such as speed to the bottom of the map view.

One star goes away because of the high price, but this is clever. Garmin Varia RTL516 Radar shows cars coming from behind on the screen of this device. In the style of Garmin, even the smallest details can be filed from the menus.

It's not as big as I imagined in advance, so it fits well in front of the stem or on top of it, depending on the bike. The large screen makes navigation easier and allows for a lot of data fields if you want. A top-quality product with a battery that lasts indefinitely. The new flagship model has a brighter screen, but you can read it easily even in direct sunlight.

In navigation, I myself have challenges to get very distinct colors, otherwise it's a perfect device, where you can find everything you need and much more.
