The bullet drop compensator (ASV or ASV+) from Carl Zeiss is probably the most intuitive ballistic solution on the market- easy to use and exceptionally precise. The knob normally used to adjust the height is replaced by a non-slip adjuster ring with a distance scale. Before taking your shot simply turn the ASV to the measured distance - and aim accurately. It has never been easier to overcome the problem of long-range shooting.

Your rifle can be sighted in to 100 m. You can then select from various distance rings (or films) to compensate for the different bullet trajectory paths­. For a high speed bullet with a drop of 30 cm at 300 m, for example, you might choose a ring that can be adjusted from 100 m to 300 m in exactly 10 clicks ( = 30 cm at 300 m). Bullets with a greater drop will need a more spread out scale.

In Zeiss' download section there is a free software download that contains the information for around 1,500 different loads. Simply choose the calibre and bullet type and the programme will show you which ASV ring or film to choose.

To adjust the ASV for aiming over longer distances simply lift the non-slip knob slightly and turn it. When it is released it will click back into place. In this way you can avoid any inadvertent adjustments. At 100 m the ASV has a lock for ease of handling in the dark. You can rely on the most intuitive ballistic solutions on the market.
