Excellent craftsmanship, built to last and very sleek! These make take a grade of every climb! Well done Petzl.
Nice color and easy to use
The modern standard. No more bashed or frozen knuckles. Comes with the (thin) and very precise Pure Ice pick which is excellent for vertical waterfall ice. Lightweight yet very balanced swing.
The only thing you need to do is make sure the bolts on the headweights are tighten down and then create your own clip-in loops of the outer sheath of 4-5 mm cord and apply them through the 4 kN-rated hole in the handle (the spike is not even strong enough to hang on, rated to 2 kN).
A very good tool even for technical alpine goulotte climbing although a more traditional axe would obviously be preferred for more general alpine use.
Excellent price and delivery from Varuste.net
I like it because it is lighter than ergonomic.
The nomic is the best product.
The classic ax for ice climbing
I am very happy with my purchase at this price!
I want to use it again.
Excellent grip can hang very comfortably
Just my favourite ice axe for steep terrain. Perfect swing on ice.
great product and prompt service from this company. highly recommended.
Sets the standard. Great weight and balance.
Good handling and swing.
The pur ice pick is agressive and get in ice easily.
Only downside, the nomic can get stuck in ice sometimes.
Ideal for technical ice climbing, lightweight and well designed.
Perfect for my small hands. I’ve struggled to find ice tools that are comfortable to hold, and these are excellent.
Great tools and pur' ice picks are outstanding on steep ice
Can’t wait to use these tools!
It's a very well-balanced ice ax, and I'm convinced that it will be a good companion from the moment I use it for the first time.
Perfect choice for ice climbing and mix routes 🙂
I have now used these on three water ice climbing days. They stick beautifully. That's what I bought 'em for. As an intermediate-skills climber, I love the confidence and energy savings that I get from using them on vertical ice.
Took them up Huntington Ravine on Mt Washington last weekend. They are amazing. Thank you Petzl and Varuste!
A really nicie ice tool
The lack of load rating for the lower spike is a major issue to worry most climbers
Awesome product. Varuste has the best prices anywhere. Live in Canada. Shop eBay and Amazon and prices can’t compare. Saved $140 per tool compared to MEC. I couldn’t even buy the older model used for the price I paid at varuste. Highly recommend.
Excellent ice climbing and mixed ice axes, typical in Quebec!
Work much better for pure waterfall ice than tools with less aggressive picks. They swing well and the handles are very ergonomic
I have not tried them yet. I am waiting for the next winter season. I believe it will become powerful gears to enjoy my ice-climbing.
Received with BTR keys to adjust the handle of the ice axes. In the top.
I really like my Petzl Nomic, good handling and comfortable grip fit for the hands.
Great axe but only 4 stars because the spike is molded into plastic and can't be trusted. I'm baffled why on earth an engineer would think that was in anyway ok. Not only that but the instructions provided tell you its ok to hang from the spike. If you look very carefully you can tell the axe shown is not a nomic but a quark.
