Product description

Lightweight and strong four-season tunnel tent with weight-saving low-profile design and remarkable space in the vestibule. A versatile tent with superior ventilation, including a new smart feature that lets you roll up the flysheet at both ends. This gives fantastic airflow and is just as practical in unpredictable Scandinavian weather as it is in warmer climates. A perfect lightweight companion when trekking, all year round, in all conditions except the most extreme. The flysheet is made from new, high-performance TripleRip nylon with an innovative construction that combines two fabric weights – the most exposed areas against the ground are reinforced with a stronger, thicker fabric while the less exposed areas are made from a lighter fabric – giving excellent strength while keeping weight low.

The flysheet and inner tent are connected so the inner tent is kept dry while pitching. Pole sleeves are on the outside and are colour coded for simplicity. They are wide enough to fit double poles (an accessory) in exposed conditions. Large, highly positioned vents give excellent airflow and all openings are covered with a fine mesh that keeps out even the smallest, barely visible insects. The openings in the flysheet can be opened or completely closed with flysheet fabric. In warm conditions the doors can be rolled up and fastened in a half-open position – the zipper has an auto-lock feature so the wind can’t force it to “creep” – for extra air circulation without rain getting to the inner tent. The inner tent door has a fine mesh and can be completely closed with a fabric door. The vestibule has plenty of room for equipment, cooking or a four-legged friend. The entrance is from the side, which means the space can be used well. The inner tent is also spacious with a clothesline and mesh pockets that are useful when you want to keep track of your gear. Just like all of Fjällräven’s tents, Abisko Shape 2 is made entirely without PVC plastic and toxic flame retardants, and its impregnation is fluorocarbon free.

  • Closable vent openings with no-see-um mesh

Our first tent. Tested a few times in winter, spring and summer, in rain, moderate wind, snowfall and cold (about -6 degrees). Light and relatively convenient to travel. When you start to get a handle on the routine and have the ropes in order, it goes smoothly. A bit low to sit in. Otherwise, you are not bothered by a little condensation on the inner fabric, but when your head touches when you sit, it is a bit boring. Otherwise, there is not much condensation, but it can drip onto the inner tent in case of prolonged rain or large temperature differences. The lines are kept well taut in the wind when anchored properly (challenge for beginners when it is windy and snowing while the tent is erected, see the winter pictures). Handy with the drying lines after a day's hiking. Good to find a shady spot in calm summer weather - ventilation will be insufficient if you minimize the openings in the inner tent to keep mosquitoes and gnats out.

A very practical tent thanks to the spacious abcide. The accommodation is also spacious enough for 2 people.

I already opened it once and in a week I should go for a test drive for a couple of days. Upon opening, you noticed that the quality is of a different class than in the hundredth tent.

Shape 2 is good in terms of quality and erection speed. 6 minutes alone when everything works out. In terms of length, the sleeping space is also good enough for a 190-centimeter person. In terms of its width, the tent for two is a bit narrow, the sleeping pad may also be to blame. Sitting in a tent requires sitting with your head in the middle. It is possible, but the space is limited, so the tent is a bit low. The apse is big and one person's clothes fit well there. Maybe a dog too. The tent door is perhaps the worst part, it feels like water is dripping when you open it, but maybe you can't avoid this. The floor of the tent feels very thin, which may require buying a footprint for rockier places, maybe even everywhere other than the grass when setting it up. The tent has good air circulation and it shouldn't be a problem to cook inside.

Reliable hiking accommodation, has already been tested even in strong winds without problems. In the apse, a seam leaks a little and the seating height inside is not the same as in the middle of the tent. I accidentally cut one of the arches and there was no part of the arch as a spare part. However, Fjällräven's customer service worked brilliantly and I finally got the spare part from Sweden!

Quick to set up, the color codes direct the arches to the right places. A good purchase

Very easy to set up. Luxury accommodation for one with a wide 65cm mattress. Two can only fit on narrow mattresses. Lots of hall space, excellent ventilation openings, both a mosquito net and fabric on the inner door. I appreciate the ready-made clotheslines in the sausage and in the hall. However, a thick mattress takes up a lot of space from the height and Makkari stays low, you can sit in the doorway when you push the mattress to the side. Feels safe even in the wind.

Easy to set up by yourself, easy to take down too. Spacious for one, but two sleep comfortably. It can withstand even harsh conditions, rain and snow stay outside, and despite the wind, the tent stays upright. Tested in autumn and winter weather. The apse is comfortably spacious, it fits things well and could also be used for cooking. The fabric feels durable and a repair kit is also included just in case. I think it's worth the price.
