Patented system compatible with Salomon Footwear and Nordic ski boots.
Replacing the Quicklace on your Salomon trail running shoes is a straightforward process. Tail runner Majell Backhausen shows you how to do it from start to finish on two different trail running shoe models. First, he shows you how to re-work the Quicklace on a traditional shoe like the Salomon Sense Ride, then on the XA Pro 3D, which has a slightly different set-up. Majell also shows you the items you will need to get the job done (the Quicklace repair kit, a pair of scissors and a lighter) and takes you through the process. See how to remove your old Quicklace, how to prepare the new one to be strung through your shoes, and then learn how to put the lock mechanism together and attach the connector pieces to finish the job.

Quicklace has its place, but I recommend carrying spare laces with you if you're going on a longer trip. Laces tend to break from time to time, and as a last resort, I've managed to tie the broken ends together. This last resort has worked in daily use for about a couple of weeks to a month.
The actual reason for lace breakage is in the shoes, not the laces themselves. In shoes that have been used a little longer (I have the XA forces mid), the edges of the metal lace holes form sharp edges due to wear. For the shoes in question, it seems that the metal guides have been updated to fabric with plastic inserts in the new product images, which solves the problem. I myself managed to rotate the metal guide 180 degrees so that there is a clean surface against the lace and the breakages have stopped there. The shoes will soon be ready to be replaced anyway.
In some laces, the plastic buckle/fastener is worse than in others, meaning the laces may loosen during use if you don't pay special attention to the tightening process.
Despite the disadvantages, I have two Salomon shoes with quicklace in daily use. Quite often I end up putting on one of these instead of putting on shoes with traditional laces.| Overall rating |
Smart quick-lacing system. I don't know if it's the user's fault, but I feel that the quality of these laces has declined over the years. Sometimes in the past, these barely needed to be replaced, with today's shoes, I've had to replace them a few times within six months.| Overall rating |
Super soft and warm liners. These are actually much warmer than the previous hestra liners we had before. Very stretchy as well

Working laces, easy to install.
Tip if you use these with old shoes, when replacing, make sure the brass shoelace grommet is not worn down to the point where it has sharp edges.
I replaced two sets of laces in my shoes before I noticed that the grommet had worn down from two years of heavy use to the point where it "ate" the lace.
I turned the grommets 180* around, so the laces hit the unused part of the grommet for the next two years :)
