Pros Prior to purchasing, I did my research. I even contacted Carinthia directly to a mate of mine to confirm that this store is an authorized retailer. That’s a major plus, especially given how many counterfeit outlets outside this store sell fake Carinthia products. Getting into the substance of the review: this is easily the most breathable sleeping bag I’ve ever owned. That’s particularly impressive considering Carinthia managed to achieve this level of breathability while still incorporating their version/ name-sake of a Mylar (heat-reflective) layer. I’ve also purchased the Carinthia Defence 4 from a different retailer, and the materials and overall build quality are consistent between the two. both are excellent. But between the two I'd hands down pick the tropen from this store. This is because I sleep extremely hot and the bespoke mosquito net is argubly one of the better selling points. Even if you don't sleep in an area with bugs, the placebo effect of avoiding creepy crawlers helps with your quality sleep. Cons Full disclaimer here. My only real complaints are admittedly “first-world problems,” but they’re still worth mentioning for anyone in a similar situation. I’m fairly tall (North of over 192 cm), and I only just fit inside the 200 cm version of this bag. which I believe is their large size rather than medium. With boots on, it becomes an exact fit with virtually no extra room. Conclusion Defiantly would recommend, especially if you sail yachts as much as I do. The breathability translates to more moisture outside the bag. The netting translates to more island hopping, general camping trips or just a quality night of sleep in general. Update People asked me why i choose the camo version instead of getting a plain colour again, so I'd figured to give an update here. I personally prefer plain colours [especially nato green], but sleeping bags will inevitably have stains. Camo will help hide those stains, making it look new for far longer To me that was worth the extra. If you've less ocds as I do about dirt or stains then by all means price shop.

A really nice piece of gear, I got mine in the finnish camouflage M05, I love it! The size is very good, there is enough space, i ordered large (i‘m 185cm/6‘ tall at 100kg/220lbs). The quality is very good, all Materials are heavy duty. This model (beside the colour M05) is used in many european armys as summer sleeping bag, so there are lighter and smaller packable sleeping bags on the market (non military) so if you are looking for every Gramm of weight you need to look for something else, if you look for something sturdy which will satisfy you a long time, buy the Carinthia Tropen! The seller is great, shipping from Finnland to Germany was quick (3 days) so anytime again!
