Product description

Elevate your belaying experience with the Petzl Neox, an assisted blocking belay device perfect for both indoor gym sessions and outdoor climbing adventures. Specifically designed for lead climbing, it features an integrated wheel for seamless and efficient slack management, while its ergonomic handle ensures comfortable descent control. Compatible with single ropes ranging from 8.5 to 11 mm in diameter, it offers versatility for various climbing scenarios.

  • For lead and top rope climbing, and descending
  • Features cam-assisted blocking for smooth belay experience: when the climber falls or weights the system, the rope tightens, the wheel stops spinning, and the cam pivots to pinch and block the rope
  • Includes an engraved diagram on the belay device for easy installation of the rope
  • Cam-assisted blocking allows flexibility for the brake-side hand position, regardless of the angle between the climber side and brake side of the rope
  • Compatible with 8.5 to 11 mm dynamic single ropes, optimized for 8.9 to 10.5 mm ropes
  • Ergonomic handle facilitates easy unblocking of the rope and lowering someone
  • Provides a 3:1 mechanical advantage from the handle and camming mechanism, reducing the effort needed to smoothly control the rate of descent, regardless of rope diameter
  • Plastic parts constructed with recycled nylon

Nice follow-up version of the grigri series. I am still testing it to see which one I like better. In principle I can get along fine with a grigi. So I still have to find out how big the advantages of the Neox's are.

I used to own Grigrink, but this was an improvement on lead securing. Yes, this is also how a beginner manages to lock when giving the rope, but a lot less than with grigri. Locking when dripping seems just as secure as with a grigri, although this one has more moving parts and is more sensitive to giving loose.

A great addition to the GriGri. Giving out rope for lead climbing works great while blocking works just as well as with the GriGri. But the NEOX is also better for top rope climbing because lowering is much smoother. In short, I only use the NEOX for loading.
