The Mountain Touring 51 is a rugged ski for varied terrain: well suited for groomed tracks yet wide enough to answer questions posed by the unbroken trail.
Perfect for packed and hard snow, this is a back country ski with 3/4 steel edges and a pronounced pocket above the grip zone, 51mm at the waist – the perfect ski for those who see groomed tracks as a bridge to lower terrain.
The Mountain Touring 51 comes equipped with Skinlock, allowing the Åsnes X-Skin skin (short skin) to be instantly attached for climbing. Its waxless pattern, on a brushed nylon sole, ensures grip in most conditions.
Together, the Skinlock and the Waxless pattern make this a very versatile and easy ski.
Choosing the right length (see chart)
Ski length is determined according to body weight and height. The table below is only a guide, however – experience, skill, terrain and individual needs can all influence your choice of length.
Generally speaking, moving through rugged terrain calls for shorter skis than the open mountain plateau. And for beginners, short skis are easier to control. If you’re mainly skiing along tracks, length isn’t the most crucial factor. For good float on deep snow, a slighter wider ski is useful. Lighter skiers might consider a shorter ski; heavier skiers a longer ski. Skiers with loads such as backpacks and sledges might consider a longer ski.
