Studded boots for outdoor activities and walks

Friction shoes as general-purpose winter footwear

Friction shoes are a good alternative to studded shoes. They are like regular, warm winter shoes, but their sole pattern and especially the rubber compound are optimized to grip on slippery surfaces. Although friction shoes do not outperform studded shoes on slippery ice, their advantage is versatility: with friction shoes, you can easily switch from one surface to another and use them indoors without worrying about leaving marks on soft floor materials like wood.
