Train like a pro

I’m glad to work in a company with many kinds of people. We have sport enthusiasts from amateur to professional level, doing various sports with different competences. To diversify this blog and to learn more about the sports that I don’t know very well yet, I decided to interview our experts of different fields.

I have tried climbing in almost all its forms, but I haven't got hooked. I’m not keen on ultra sports either, probably because I don't have energy to run over a hundred kilometres up and down mountains, even if I practised. I’m happy to focus on other hobbies.

As an outsider, I admire the time and the energy ultrarunners and climbers put on the training and the tough mentality and the willpower they have. And the fact that they are in so good condition.
So, I went to Joonas, our ultra sports specialist, to ask how he exercises during this very hot summer to maintain his good condition.
His answer: “I don’t.”

That’s fine. The untalented train and the talented rest when it’s hot, I guess.

I didn’t get depressed by the depressing answer, but turned to Eevi, our climbing specialist, to ask how the real climbers train during the heat wave.
Her answer: “Actually, we don’t.”

As a consolation, they explained me that it’s ok to lounge in a hammock and maybe to drink a really cold beer during heat waves.

But if someone really wants to exercise hard and go climbing even if it’s very hot outside, the safest time for it is the night, when it’s cooler. You just need to be a little bit crazy and bothered to do it. If you want to follow the example of our experts, I recommend lounging in a hammock and refreshing yourself by swimming, for example.
