The Hanwag Alaska Pro Lady GTX copes with everything from day trips to demanding hikes and week-long outdoor trekking adventures. Thanks to its Gore-Tex lining, it keeps your feet dry even in mud and rain, while a higher scree-protection rubber rand in the Alaska Pro version protects the leather against cuts and scratches. Sturdy, durable, die-cast metal lacing components ensure a reliable fit.
The sole unit is lightweight and supremely comfortable as well as easy to care for. Inside, the footbed is made of chrome-free tanned leather. The high-cut upper is made using a one-piece construction method that stabilises and protects the ankle area – a particular advantage when carrying a heavy pack. The Vibram® Fluoraska outsole on the Alaska Pro 100 will see trekkers through thick and thin, in all conditions. Built to last: Even after many years of service the Alaska Pro can easily be resoled ready for new adventures.

Those shoes are heavy, 715g each. So that is something you should take into account. Otherwise are super sturdy and when properly treated, waterproof too. I wear size 38 generally, but those were bit too short for me, especially when you want to wear the thick hiking socks in there, so took 39. I recommend trying those before buying. Otherwise, they are sturdy, no damage so far, had them for almost 1 year now, used weekly. Let's see if they last.

Have used hanweg Alaska gtx boots for 10 years . Very good boot for its intended purpose. Not a advocate of goretex as it wears out rapidly, is hot in a leather boot. Is also extremely toxic to the environment. But as such, nothing is perfect it is still a good boot for heavy marches in the mountains. Ordering from varuste.net was very easy and will be ordering again. Great company and a pleasure to do business with.

Endlich ein Schuh, den ich täglich in unserer Schäferei tragen kann. Super bequem und vor allem wirklich wasserdicht. Werde mir noch ein zweites Paar zulegen um gelegentlich wechseln zu können. Vergleichbare Schuhe für 50€ weniger eines anderen Herstellers konnten nicht überzeugen.

Great experience buying for the first time with Varuste, and incredibly well made boots. As a retired remote wilderness guide I’ve found it a struggle to get boots that are made as well as they were 30 years ago. These meet all of my high standards. They’re a smallish fit, so the 41.5 was perfect where I normally buy 41. They’re warm, waterproof, made of a very good leather, and the lacing system is the best I’ve seen and felt. I’m now a Hanwag convert after having Scarpa all my life, and would buy again from Varuste in a heartbeat.
