Ik kocht dit ter vervanging van mijn vorige Garmin-geps uit de 60-serie, die begon met vastzittende trucs. Bij mijn eigen belangrijkste gebruik, bij de training na de hond, is het belangrijkste de meest nauwkeurige reproduceerbaarheid van het spoor, en dat is waar dit net zo goed werkt als mijn uitstekende 60-serie-apparaat. Ik hou niet van geocaching, dus de bijbehorende functies zijn nutteloos voor mij.
Het ergste van het apparaat is de volkomen ongelukkige levensduur van de batterij. Hoewel ik hem altijd probeer op te laden net voordat ik hem off-road neem, is het laadniveau na slechts een paar uur afgenomen tot een laag niveau. Op langere reizen durf ik hem niet altijd aan te houden, maar ik zet hem alleen aan als ik voel dat ik hem nodig heb en ik gebruik de camera helemaal niet. Reservebatterijen moeten altijd aanwezig zijn.
Met Bluetooth koppelt het apparaat met Garmin Connect, maar Basecamp en Express lijken een USB-stick nodig te hebben, werken niet op BT of via wifi. Ik heb zelfs niet ontdekt waar die wifi hier zelfs maar kan worden gebruikt (wifi werkt op zichzelf, dat wil zeggen, het vindt het netwerk, maar de eigen software van Garmin wordt alleen somber door de ventilator ??)
Samengevat: een apparaat dat anders prima zou zijn, maar een slechte batterijduur maakt het vervelend slecht. Iets te veel functies ten koste van een betrouwbare werking. De camera is nutteloos, vooral omdat het gebruik ervan nog meer batterijen verbruikt, dus nu zou ik zelf een goedkoper cameraloos model kopen.
