The VJ Maxxes I ordered have only been in use for a short time. However, my experiences with them are exclusively good. I am really satisfied. The model, color, design etc. are all pleasant. And the soles are as strong as tractor tires. The winter continues, that's why I haven't been able to walk long runs yet, I don't ride a bike too much. However, pedaling the exercise bike goes very well with the new VJ Maxxis on. I've also used them quite a bit just as indoor shoes, e.g. right now. This text was written wearing VJ Maxxit. I recommend VJ Maxx to everyone. They are worth the price.

A bit stiff the shoes, not for long distance trails, as people usually says on reviews, a good trail shoe for 10km

Absolutely the best trail shoe I've found. A comfortably wide last, an incredibly grippy sole and a durable upper fabric, which both the shoe and the wearer survive intact in any rocky terrain. Now on to the second pair of slippers, the first ones were used until the soles were worn smooth. The only small minus is the sole of the shoe, which is not attached to the edges. Because of this, debris gets into the shoe more easily than usual, even with gaiters, especially on sand or rough forest terrain. You have to remember to clean your shoes regularly so that debris does not damage your feet.

Sufficient grip even in wet weather. Part of the surface seems to be crumbling, but mostly it only affects the appearance.

First time impression are great. Wore these for an OCR race straight out of the box. First 2km felt tight, but then wore in. No blisters. Excellent water drainage. Easy to wash after the race. Very happy so far

I am very happy with these shoes. The last is wide enough, the damping is suitable, the grip is excellent and the textile of the upper part feels durable. 5/5

The best ultra shoe for technical terrain. Some people complain that the heel rises, but I think it's a design feature of the very protective stiff sole, so that the run is rolling. Karhunkierros and Ylläs-Pallas 100km went with these without any foot problems. Fit and feel very good. The VJ Ultra is softer on the flat, but much better on trails, especially with a little weight on the neck.

Sits on your own foot like a cast, gives a good feel of the country and incredible grip. On the paths the damping feels very comfortable, on the gravel sections the damping is moderate but the asphalt sections are only tolerable with short shifts. The evening / tongue could be a cent or a couple longer, hence one star off.

I have been using VJ shoes for 2 years. The best grip ever. The lightest shoes on the market. Very short delivery times.

Good grip. The gap in the heel opening absorbs debris into the shoes. Quite a lot of room for the toes.

Good shoes, a little had to learn to tie so the heel wouldn’t rise. The toes did not rub any, which is rare for me.

Damping is enough for the paths and the forest, gravel is still going on. For asphalt by no means if small displacements are not counted. Good grip even when wet. The fins on a Finnish fin's foot could be a little wider, this more a matter of taste. I have not noticed the rise of the heel commented by some.

EUR 43 shoe, rolls over the sole comfortably, the feel of the path is really good, the balance between the damping and the feel is great. The bottom and pattern have a really good grip. The last from the foot is rather narrow and sock-like and has to keep the straps somewhat open with a wide and high arched foot. The evening is really short and the edge bites my leg a little. The heel is surprisingly very loose and wants to rise a bit so overall as a really accurate recording.

The heel cup felt open at first and the heel gets a little raised. However, with the lacing, the shoe can be tightened to the foot and the heel does not seem irritated due to the first loop.

Initial thoughts: VJ MAXX 5'10" (177cm) tall, 180lbs (82kg). Run/hike road/trail 15-20mi (24-32km) per week since mid-2016. 1st Workout: 4mi Trail Run, easy grade and terrain. 2nd Workout: 4mi Hike, upwards of 30 degree grade, rough/sandy/rocky terrain. Pros: -Confident grip/lugs -Heavy duty construction through out -Was looking for more cushion compared to the XTRM and the MAXX delivered -Impressed with fast international shipping from Varuste Just OK: -I own the VJ XTRM and I love the fit at 11.5US (EUR 46), but the cushion wasn't enough for my weight. I ordered the MAXX for more cushion with the same size, but these run longer than expected. The fit of the MAXX is not the same as the XTRM for me and I would have been better off with size 11 (EUR 45.5). -The toe box is a bit too wide for me. I like to feel like the medial and lateral aspects of my forefoot are one with the shoe. Perhaps this is due to the sizing as outlined above. Cons: -During the trail run, my Achilles tendinopathy was fiercely aggravated. My go to, reliable shoe for the past 4 years has been the Salomon Speedcross with a drop of 10mm. The MAXX has a 6mm drop. Not sure if the 4mm difference made that big of a difference, but I have unhappy Achilles presently. Given this, I will likely resign the MAXX to training days as opposed to Spartan Race days like I had intended.....unless of course my experience changes with time. Joe U Nevada, USA

The size is fair compared to e.g. the Xtrm model, the base cup is looser. I rub strangely on the inside of the ankle, there have been no problems in other VJ shoes. Otherwise guaranteed quality and certainly fits well for longer runs.

2019-06: These are my third cross-country running shoes. The first ones I bought were great but heavy Salomon XA Enduro, the second light and very comfortable but suitable for shorter (approx. 20km) trips VJ XTRM. The MAXx has a more damp base, a larger drop and slightly smaller grips. Toe space suitable for a medium-washed person. The feel of the trail is good. I recommend! EDIT 2020-03: Favorite shoes for trail running! I ordered another pair so that the first one wouldn’t wear out too early. Enough dumping for longer starts (40 + km). The shoelaces work very well, although the length is left for simple tying, meaning the locking loop cannot be tied. I would play long and short bands as standard in the package.

I changed the shoes of Salomonit VJ a couple of years ago and there is no going back. I get these for harder paths and road sections. For soft paths and solid woods, I throw XTRM models. The straps should be a little longer to get a decent double knot.

Nice mix of added shock absorption and maintained feeling for the surface. Very good fit for my normal wide foot. Durable upper. In my opinion, VJ's collaboration with Jonathan Albon has resulted in another very good shoe.

The shoes have run three crosses and look good so far. I wanted a shoe that is something between a regular trail running shoe and an orienteering shoe. The previous ones match the Salomon Speed Cross Variot, compared to which the lower drop has been good on uneven terrain. The ankle doesn’t munch so much at all. The patterning of the base also feels quite adequate and suitable for a wide range of terrain. There is no experience of jogging on a harder trail yet.
