I bought the nylon skins because we often have wet snow, and found the skin not giving me grip neither on a groomed trail or ungroomed, when I'm going up a small hill. Snow builds up on and sticks to it extremely quickly.

I've had Madhus scale bottom downhill skis in the past, which had really good grip. I recently got the Åsnes in charge. I needed more grip for them and I got ko hairs. There was grip, but the slippage ended to my liking. The weather was on the freezing side and it was hard.

X-skins are amazing. The nylon ones are very specific however in their application. Great grip, heavy drag. To be used in wet icy conditions when going uphill or pulling a load. Get mohair for general use. I’d also not recommend these for cold hard pack snow, you will stick like sandpaper.

it is necessary to have them if you want to use Åsnes Ingstad Waxless

Poor glide. Already in the third use, it started to wrap itself in a myth, ie the glue betrayed even without pulling the sledge, but with the slag on the first hill. So by no means at least. Somewhat flat with a backpack, etc. But the lack of slip takes away the feeling of it too. Plus ease of installation and reasonableness without a hitch. I recommend full length colltex mohair / nylon mix hairs. Works just incredibly well and slips surprisingly well after lubrication. On a flat office, hold a cream or scalp better.

Brilliant idea. Neat, and compact, snaps on and off in a flash. I have the nylon ones, they go on when conditions are bad, or hills are steep. They go everywhere with me, in a clever little zip-pouch, that slides onto my fanny-pack belt. With a reasonable price, they are almost a must have for X-skin skis. While gliding, you know they are there, more, or less, depending on conditions, when it becomes an issue, just snap'em off. Great. Now, I wonder how those mohair ones would be ? Thanks Asnes for another incredible product. Thanks Varuste for more of your wonderful service.

Amazing grip and genius system

The skin works very well, especially in icy/crusty snow conditions. They do not inhibit the glide as much as I though they would and the attachment mechanism works very well. I am worried the tip of attachment piece will roll back as they get older. The rubber attachment will protect the skin as other brands I have used, the skin runs through the ski to the top side and it wear outs quickly at the insertion point. The skin was only noticeable on the hardest of trails and at speed.

Great uphill, but does not glide downhill

There is more grip when enough, but of course at the expense of gliding. It pays to use the full length for a while and let the little time let you see where the point starts to wear clearly. Then cut it off and shorten it. My own left about 10cm shorter. Sit started to slip and the grip barely noticed the difference!
