I bought the device for both a heart rate monitor and a dive. The most important point in diving was the storage of GPS data, for which the device works just fine. GPS location recording is helpful if you put the device in dive mode before jumping into the water, if the device is only activated in the water, location information may not be saved at all. As a dive computer, the device itself is OK, but for example the NDL warning comes between 20 minutes and 50 minutes in advance. There didn’t seem to be any actual logic here. Plus, the selected screen resolution, which is a second, feels really weird. The minute accuracy would be just fine enough, and the NDL value does not need to be changed every second. Underwater, the device's display is reasonable, although Shearwater's dive computers, for example, have a much better screen. Garmin should pay attention to the clarity of the information presented. The device has several screens that show different things, such as a couple of different dive modes and a compass. For some reason, these different screens are randomly alternated during the dive, causing you to unnecessarily tap the desired screen back from the machine. Making settings is a bit unnecessarily laborious. Units of measurement have to vary from several different places to get everything in metric units. In addition, the favorites selected and the order of activities vary, depending on whether the settings are made on the dive computer or on the phone. BTW it's also weird that syncing activity data to your phone requires an internet connection. That is, the phone must be online to view information on a larger screen. This is not possible at all dive sites. (With the latest software version, I haven't tested this yet, but at least the parents did.) And then that heart rate monitor. The wrist heart rate measurement seems to be full of rubbish. The measured heart rate may be more than 50% incorrect, but sometimes the device may have a good day and the heart rates are roughly in place. But in principle, it can be argued that wrist heart rate measurement gives you exactly what happens when you move. According to the support, the device had to be reset to factory mode and force a firmware update if any bit happens to be transverse. However, this did not help. There have been problems with walking, badminton, floorball and in any sport, where I have been using the device. If you are interested in heart rate measurement, you should stay away from this device. I complained about this to Garmin several times and they sent e.g. a link to a blog post explaining that Garmin's wrist heart rate measurement is top quality, but there are several ways to go wrong: https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=rxsywTpox9AHVzOXFxni59&productID=568181&searchQuery=syke&tab=topics&textPage=1 Well, in the end they sent me a free heart rate belt to get even the right data, but the whole idea when purchasing this device was to get reasonably accurate heart rate data without any extra bullshit (and record the GPS location of the dives). In conclusion, the price-quality ratio is poor. Yes, a thousand-euro device should be much better and be able to even help to measure the information that is promised. Quite disappointing.
