For many years I have used, among other things, Meindl Island Pro, but lately I have experienced that they have become too tight in the front of the toes. When I got my Meindl Guffert GTX, that problem was solved. Very comfortable boots, which felt very comfortable from the first ride. In the past I have sometimes had to "walk in the boots", but this was not necessary with these boots! Very pleased!

After going through two other hiking shoes and getting blisters on my toes on every hike, I finally found the Meindli comfort-last. I use Vivobarefoot shoes in my everyday life and their insoles are very similar. Does not pinch the toes from the sides.
I was so optimistic about the fit of the shoe that I went on a week-long hiking trip to Madeira with them practically without running in. I wasn't disappointed, the shoes immediately fit the feet like a cast. Not a single blister or chafing from a week of hiking in new shoes.
The shoes are really sturdy, in size 47 one shoe weighs over a kilo. Depending on the need for use, this is either a good or a bad thing. For normal hiking in the forest, I think these are unnecessarily heavy - swinging a kilo of weight at the end of the lever arm of the legs consumes strength on a long trip. On the other hand, protection and support are valued more than lightness when walking in Kivikko or on mountain trails.

Good membrane hiking shoes and supports well, suits me because of weak over-moving ankles and bad back, not to mention that you could use any sneakers vs. real hiking shoes. If well maintained, they will last. Of course, membrane vs shell shoes (e.g. Lundhags) are in a different category and at the moment I would leave these on the shelf and buy only shell shoes.

Great boots. I found them very stiff but they are starting to break in now and feel pretty good. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy these.

Sturdy hiking boots!
I wanted something light and durable that would withstand hiking and camping conditions, whether in the desert, off-road in uneven terrain, rocky terrain, mountains, etc. While I consider the equipment light, the equipment should also be durable and sturdy.
I have different pairs of feet and ankles that are wide, chest due to injuries. I use a silk sock merino wool combination as a sock that works well. The structure and insole of the Comfort Fit shoe fit well into a wider foot.
The shoes have good ankle support, as well as sole grip.

I don’t remember anymore, I bought the previous Gufferts in. The earliest footwear used most for dog running was the Mountain Hawks. The bottoms of Ingram hold almost like the weather, if not the skull, and my foot's Guffert's slightly wider last fit perfectly. In my experience, Meindl shoes are very durable; the adhesives of the base do not open and the stitches do not settle. The heel tag has also been renewed a couple of times. I recommend.

Great boot! Fits my wide foot/ skinny ankle combination straight off the shelf

Brilliant boots. Comfortable and easy to break in (didn’t actually need to). Do fit a wider foot well. Got a 28cm boot for a 27.5cm foot so true to fit. Do darken after applying meindl sports wax to leather. They are also slightly higher than most mid cut boots I have owned. Price was excellent and deliver time to Australia was better than expected due to COVID.

Great fit, obviously well made boot bit its Meindl so you would assume so, I've never had a problem with any of their boots. Right amount of stiffness for the hills I'll be in, and my wide feet are happier than they've even been in any pair of proper boots. The price on this site even with shipping to Australia is incredibly good value compared to what people buy these boots for locally. Customer service and communication has been excellent. I highly recommend Varuste and if you have wide feet like me, these are the boots for you.

So far so good, great price considering delivery to NZ. Boots appear well made and comfortable so far. Only complaint is the ends of the laces came apart on the second trip, have taped them up but would have expected them to be a bit more durable.

I haven’t been able to try these very much yet, but as a first impression, they are lighter than the old Meindl ice climbing hiking boats, which are over 20 years old and still in use. Sturdy, supports the foot and ankle well, feels and looks like quality materials. Just fit in mountainous terrain with air or a backpack / backpack, whatever I wanted. It will be seen if it lasts for the next twenty years. It is worth investing in the good.

I am very satisfied with these shoes on the basis of a short experience. Really high quality shoes. Wide-legged. Quite high-topped, so also very ankle support. Sturdy and well waterproof. About 100 km of use at the rear and no abrasions have come. They are also warm, so it works well even in frosty thick hiking socks. Summer is probably pretty hot. If something needs to be said to improve, then the tapes could be a little thicker, but you can change them.
Finding a shoe that sat on my feet was challenging. For example, the Hanwag Tatra II wide in size UK 8 was too narrow Lestinen, but many cents too long. Eventually I ordered these shoes in size UK 7.5 and with the thick sock fits really well. Maybe it could have been an even smaller size if you wanted to wear a thin sock. At least I don't have the narrowness of the loess in these.

After about 100 km of walking, the shoes already formed quite well on the feet. Initially, the stems caused slight abrasions, but no more problems. Toe awesome maneuverability. The stem is of a good height and supports the ankles nicely, but flexes properly. The shoes breathe efficiently. Definitely the best shoes I have used.

The boots here are cheaper than any I've found. A genuine steal. High quality and brand new. Shipping from Europe all the way to NZ in about 10 days, I often wait longer for post from Australia! So so pleased with my boots. Will definitely buy from Varuste again. I have been hunting wide and far for a good quality highly robust tramping/hiking boot that fits a wider forefoot without crushing my toes. These are perfect. Still narrow enough at the heel to feel snug and prevent rubbing. I also used the online size checker from Meindl and it worked out perfectly. Happy happy happy!

20 km now for winter shoeing behind. Menty uneven glacier and rock. The shoe is sufficiently torsionally rigid with 15kg heels. The ankle receives appropriate support. The height of the shaft is just right. My own foot is normally 41.5 and lasted so wide that, for example, most models of Lowa's shoes squeeze. The island widet also seems to squeeze. Now I ordered gufferts in size 8.5 and the shoe is just right. There is enough space in front, there is no toe on the slopes and there is enough space in front in terms of width, which means that the shoes are also warm in winter and probably also cool in summer. In addition, it itself has ridiculously sized spinning bones which are why the shoe usually rubs at the spinning bone but these do not. I recommend trying these if nothing else seems appropriate.

I have been using Meindl shoes since 2007, had perfect hiker which just about to die on me. The best shoes I ever used, used them for hunting and hiking all day long whole day walk and stalk in high country never had a sore foot. I am 51 now but still love my old shoes. Just bought new shoes from ‘Varuste.net’ excellent service and on time delivery. Very good customer service I wish they are close to go and shake hand and wish them Happy New year

I have freakishly wide feet, so it was a breath of fresh air to finally find these shoes, after having spent a lot of money on too small shoes hoping they would stretch out, as the sales clerk promised. There is a small crease on the inside that needs to be fixed on the tongue of the shoe, but that is easily fixed. Robust boots ready for years of use.

With a couple of weeks of experience, not much can be said about the shoes I bought for years to come, but the initial impression is good. The shoes have a firm feel and are still comfortably soft on the inside compared to my previous hiking shoes. After a few tens of kilometers of walking, there are no abrasions on my feet yet.

The shoe has a wide last, a high enough upper and is very sturdy. In my use, the shoe has never compressed or rubbed due to its good lacing properties. During the first year, there was a 2-3cm tear in the seam of the sole and the shoe that was repaired by the factory, the future shows whether this will affect the durability of the shoe.

Very good shoes if you have a narrow heel / ankle and correspondingly very toes that need a lot of space. The only reason why the 5 stars that came straight out is to separately remove the "plate" under the actual insole. The device in question is glued so tightly that it is not hoped to remove it intact. Lighter glued could be removed, try to see if it is better and put back if the shoe becomes too loose.
Apparently there is a difference in the models of the lasts, as the size of this shoe 9.5 corresponds to the size of the Island 10 with an accuracy of almost a millimeter in length (do not buy without a fit from a place where it cannot be returned / exchanged).
The overall quality is what you can expect from Meindl, i.e. very hard.

Good wide hiking shoes. The length of the upper was just right and no water could get into the wet terrain of the shoe as long as the bay of the pants was well on the upper of the shoe. Comfortable on the foot. The heel locks really well and can’t get up well recorded. On a somewhat longer distance, I noticed the numbness of the big toe, but otherwise the shoes worked.
