Really warm winter boots. The inner lining is a little loose. It gently presses into the outer shoe with the foot. The problem goes away when you hold the inner lining with your hand when pushing your foot into the shoe. The shoes are big and clumsy, but their warmth and easy drying of the mountain become the most significant factors in really cold weather. I bought the shoes for the coldest frosts. During the first couple of weeks of freezing weather, I used them for outdoor work. During several hours of stationary work in -33 degrees below zero and moderate wind on the Finnmark highlands, my feet stayed warm.

The boots look sturdy and heat-keeping. However, I cannot comment on how good they are in freezing temperatures - it is spring already. The fit is pretty tight, so in order to wear the boots with proper thick Finnish wool socks, I ordered one size larger (44 instead of the usual 43 that I wear normally). This is enough to feel comfortable, and feel almost all the space inside the boot. If you plan to wear the boots with normal socks, the usual size would be OK. I have to point out at a manufacturing fault of the product. The elastic draw cord at the top of the left boot does not stay in the "tunnel" above the hem. Instead, the hem is actually crossing the elastic cord twice - rendering it non-functional. It would have been a mess to return the product to you, so I took it to a good shoe repairs shop in Bucharest. Waiting now to get the boot fixed. Maybe this is the "Made in China" quality and quality control that clients of Sorel are complaining about.

Really warm winter boots. Removable inner lining makes drying easy. Quite heavy and stiff, so not really suitable for longer walks. Instead, shoes that are just perfect for being in place and for yard work, for example. frosts above 30 degrees focused well on standing in the yard for several hours. Because of the thick bottom, there was a bit of conciliation for the ties between the batches, but in the end it worked out too. It is difficult to get the snow lock in the mouth of the handle tight enough, but after a little snapping, it also succeeds. I haven’t been able to test the grip properties in really slippery conditions yet, but at least the frost snow hasn’t had any problems.

The Sorel Glacier XT could no longer be ordered in Germany, but I really wanted them because my 25-year-old Sorel winter boots were already a bit worn out.
Varuste still had 43 of them in stock and the €10 shipping from Finland to Germany is more than fair. The Sorels fit perfectly with normal merino socks, that's all you need with the Glacier... Sorel is known for warm feet at all times and the Glacier keeps its promise. Very clear recommendations and many thanks to Varuste for the perfect handling.
