The shape of the beam is ideal for close distances thanks to a 22 degree wide hotspot and the diffused light dims evenly at the edges so that the diffused light does not form a disturbing sharp edge. Only the hotspot has a sharp edge. However, most of the luminous flux is probably condensed into a hotspot, so even the illuminance is reasonably sufficient to illuminate more distant objects.
Waterproof, it can withstand the rotations of the washing machine if you happen to forget the lamp in your trouser pocket. Although a small battery will not last for many hours at maximum power, you will also need to purchase a new Olight S2 Baton with a larger battery, as long as it goes on sale.
