I have been using Bridgedale Coolmax Liner socks and their predecessors as under socks for hiking for about 30 years. Comfortable on the feet (even when wet!) and suitably thin, which means you can put more than one layer on top of each other if necessary, if getting the shoe firmly on the foot or shock absorption requires it.

Bridgedale is tight but thin in knit. The texture and feel of the foot could somehow be considered tights-like. Thanks to its slipperiness, the sock can be worn alone in a hiking shoe. The sock feels good on the foot or rather the sock does not feel on the foot.
Bridgedale is perfect for daytime alone and with another sock, perfect for cold and longer trips

The quality has deteriorated radically since the piston years, but the price has remained the same. The newest pair didn't even last a year of normal everyday wear, as there were already holes in the bottom. The next liners will hardly be from Bridgedale, even though it's a great sock for everything, either alone or with another sock.
Excellent durable quality socks! Experience from previous years. Now I ordered new ones (the former ones are still intact, only the elastic wilted a bit). Now I was disappointed with the size. I chose the smallest S-size (corresponds to foot size 35-39) My foot size is 37. The size of the sock does not match the notice. They are big! A tip for the smaller footer: If you order, you will get good socks, but far too big!
