A balaclava quite simply! Neither more nor less. Woolpower quality.

This was the second piece I bought, not for myself this time because the first one has been serving me well for some 10 winters now, and it's still going strong. I dislike the fact that merino wool has become a mass consumption product with all environmental costs involved. But mixed with the polyamide it obviously becomes quite durable, and it's warm and nice to the skin. The stretch of the 'face window' became less over time, but still I like the fact that you can pull the thing under chin, over your chin or even up to over your nose, depending on the conditions. I washed it only once a year or so, to avoid excessive wear. As a big bonus, Woolpower products are woven and sewn in Sweden, with a short and mostly European supply chain. The price hurts, but if you're actually going to use it, it's worth the investment.

Great cold weather helmet hood. Breathes and warms better than a knitted wool hood. Good in a frosted sleeping bag as a nightgown
