I’ve had the Garmin Instinct Solar Tactical 1st gen before this one and I must say, they’ve improved greatly. It has so many features of the expensive Fenix and Tactix! Battery life is even better than on the first gen, but in order to get “unlimited” battery you’ll need to spend some serious time in direct sunlight. When on a hike it is doable, but in day-to-day life it is less likely. If they could add a topo map in version 3, that would be awesome. Obviously it wouldn’t be as detailed as the Fenix, but just some rough mapping would be great! Overall, I would highly recommend this watch to anyone that wants a smartwatch that can take a beating, is not obtrusive and with long lasting battery life.
