My previous flippers were closed and maybe they were a bit too small as they were very difficult to get on in the water. Now I bought these flippers that are open at the back, but they are used with open feet or with thin socks. These have a good loop, which you can get a good grip on and use it to pull the heel behind the heel. I use these for snorkeling and they are suitable for that.
