Light aluminum-carbon fiber poles and hopefully also resistant to downhill skiing

Great poles, baskets spin which is a bonus compared to fixed baskets. Double grip is great for versatility when going the distance. Tie out loops for flagging tape are also a great feature to help with navigation (wind direction). The canning feature slipped for the first few adjustments, the poles/cam seems to require breaking in before they actually bite into the pile shaft enough to not move.

These poles are very light (the weight indicated is for the pair) and well designed for nordic skiing with large enough basket and an easy to adjust length.

I bought it about 1 year ago, the quick release mechanism is made of fragile plastic, both rods broke now in 20 degrees below zero. I've owned 6 different pairs of adjustable poles in the last 12 years and never had this happen before (with plastic and metal quick release mechanisms). Fortunately, this time I was in the backwoods 1 km from home, and not on an open hill. The locking mechanism of the wrist strap opens easily by itself, you have to tape it. The sompa is of high quality, the long eva handle is good, and the poles are stout in full measure. But all that doesn't help if you have to throw the poles in your backpack and take sticks from the forest instead to get home...
