The lamp automatically adjusts the light output to a lower level, which is why the battery life is really long! The lamp didn't have to change the battery once during a week's ski hike in camouflage. On the other hand, it was a bit tiring that if you wanted a high light output for a long time, you had to "teach" the lamp a few times by adjusting the output to a large one, until the lamp learned and kept the output high for a long time. There are a lot of functions, which is great fun as long as you learn how to use them. Otherwise, you can get lost in their number.
