Surprisingly light and sturdy for Aluminium poles, more than happy with them. Perfect for my new trekking pole tent.

A little trickier than I expected. The rotatable locking of my previous cheap rods held better and they had shock absorption. There is no damping in these unless slip locks are counted as such. Next time you need to bring a screwdriver to adjust the tension of the locks. Anyway, the locking levers are a bit awkward with clumsy fingers. As such, the rods are clean and comfortable, the handles are just fine, and the handiness is well marked. The purpose of this handfulness remained a little unclear to me. Even better than hiking poles, the sliding telescope is not something you want to experience when rocking with a heavy backpack.

There are lighter and more compact poles available but i choose the Black Diamond Trail Ergo Cork poles because they are very comfortable and very durable. The cork handles feel great and i don't suffer with blisters or burning hot spots on my hands after use, they provide good grip in the rain and don't sweat like plastic handles. The length adjustment is quick and easy while being rock solid when locked in place, i have not had any issues with the poles slipping out of adjustment and the tension on the locks can be easily afjusted. The aluminium is very robust, i have not had any issues, i did look at lighter weight carbon poles but these are so much more durable and give a lot more confidence. Almost twice as long and some other competitors but for me thats not an issue as i strap them outside my pack. They wont be for everybody but if strength, durability and comfort are your priority over weight and pack size then you should try them.
