The spray skirt lives up to its name. It is absolutely essential for me on longer touring trips if I want to stay dry. The only thing to keep in mind is that the hem needs to be tightened carefully while in the kayak to ensure it doesn't come loose from the cockpit rim.

I've only briefly tried this, because the water has been so hot that a little splash from the paddle doesn't hurt. It goes on just fine, but make the adjustment to the opening of the canoe carefully. In particular, the grooves in front and behind the opening on the side of the canoe should be covered so that the shape of the edge of the opening is preserved as well as possible. Otherwise, it may come off too easily. from the points when there is a small jerk.
