Product description
Named after the Native Americans that inhabited Old Town, Maine, since before recorded history – and from whom we’ve gained immeasurable boat-building knowledge – the Penobscot pays homage to their superb craftsmanship, design and navigational skills. The Penobscot’s nearly plumb ends, shallow arch bottom and slight rocker have made it a sleek, nimble tripping canoe for solo or tandem paddlers. Made from three layer polyethylene, the Penobscot 164 is built to be durable and tough. Nimble and quick the Penobscot 164 can run rivers with the best of them.

Hull Characteristics
Bottom: Shallow Arch -> Shallow arch bottom canoes have less initial stability than flat bottom canoes, but tend to have higher secondary stability. As the canoe is leaned to one side, it will balance better and resist further tipping. Shallow arch canoes are a great all-around canoe but tend to perform best in choppy water, waves and whitewater.

Sides: Straight -> Straight-sided canoes are a compromise between flared sides (increased secondary stability) and tumblehome sides (narrower beam at deck for easier reach to water). Straight sides are a great option for most recreational users.

Rocker: Minimum -> Look at a canoe from a side view. If the canoe hull is completely sitting on a hard surface without either end bowed up, it means it has minimum rocker. Canoes with little or no rocker track extremely well but they are much harder to turn or maneuver.

The approximate size of the packed product or the sales package is 1000 x 5000 x 600 mm.
