I called the importer and it said he was getting some calls on this subject. According to the importer, "99% of faults are due to an operating error", eg due to the fact that the calibration had not been performed even after the device had been grounded for a week. Another thing that affects the operation of the device is if it is stored, for example, in a cold car, where moisture may accumulate in it, which affects the operation of the meter.
Breathalyzers are sensitive devices and must be carefully followed with instructions for use to be accurate. The importer recommended that more expensive model, which, for example, dries the device automatically, which helps with this dehumidification problem.
The guy once bought one and it seemed reliable enough. It took 1-2 years and the readings displayed on the device started to show zero surprisingly easily the next morning after drinking. In the past, the same drinking habits were used to larger readings. However, this was trusted then.
I then bought a similar one for myself and we did comparisons with a guy. The differences were in the range of 0.5-1 per mille.
So my own seemed to work reliably. But only about a couple of years (despite the calibrations). Now that, too, almost always shows zero, no matter what you drink.
I guess no product is such that there are no wolves. However, it is not necessarily advisable to raise your hands even if the product breaks at the end of the warranty period (as long as the purchase receipt is kept). Often the manufacturer has obligations regarding the functionality of the product even after there are no signs of violence, etc. The seller provides the manufacturer's contact information or takes care of the work himself.
