Product description
The Tarra is Hilleberg's strongest two person dome tent, designed for use in the harshest, most demanding conditions. Supremely strong self-supporting tents that can handle any situation in any kind of weather.

Both the three person Saivo and two person Tarra are Hilleberg's flagship Dome Tents. These are outstanding all-around tents for adventures where absolute strength is the highest priority. Their Kerlon 1800 outer tent fabric and 10 mm poles put them among our most robust tents, and their Dome design give them great static strength for handling heavy snow loading. Both are ideal for above treeline use in the most extreme conditions, yet because they are self-supporting and easy to pitch, the Saivo and Tarra are both equally at home below the treeline, all year ’round. Their roomy two door/two vestibule configuration, along with their static strength, make them exceptional base camp tents, where the users will leave camp unattended for extended periods of time (the Saivo is often used at the South Pole, and is left unattended for weeks).

Thanks to their construction, the Saivo and Tarra can withstand even the fiercest weather and heaviest snow loads. Their four poles have multiple crossing points – seven in the Saivo and five in the Tarra – creating an amazingly strong structure, yet their short pole sleeve and clip system makes pitching – even by a single person in windy conditions – remarkably easy.

- Our Dome design is self-supporting, and its innovative short pole sleeve and clip system construction, uniform length poles, and linked inner and outer tents make for simple, easy set up: only the vestibules require pegging out, and in nice weather these can be completely rolled aside.
- Kerlon 1800 outer tent fabric and 10 mm poles with multiple crossing points make for an exceptionally stable tent with outstanding snow-load handling capability.
- Multiple guy lines afford even greater stability, especially as many of the guy line attachment loops are designed to be wrapped around poles or pole crossing points.
- Guy lines on the vent cover add yet another level of stability to both tents.
- The interior is quite spacious thanks to a near vertical inner tent entrance, and only mildly sloping walls.
- Two entrances and two vestibules afford tremendous convenience, flexibility and comfort. For instance, one vestibule can be designated for gear stowage, while the other can be used for food preparation or gear sorting.
- One entrance of the tent can always be situated out of the wind.
- The Saivo’s entrances are asymmetric: you can enter and exit from either side or from the end of the vestibules, meaning you can always get in and out in the lee of the wind and keep rain from getting into the inner tent during entering or exiting. The Tarra’s outer door boasts a large zipper flap to keep rain out.
- Both the Saivo and Tarra’s ventilation work regardless of the weather conditions, both since their inner tent fabrics are highly breathable yet water repellent, and since there are roof vents – one in the Tarra and two in the Saivo – in both the inner and the outer tents. These can be adjusted from inside the tent, and their inner panel’s no-see-um mesh can be covered by their integrated fabric panels, while their outer panels can be opened or closed completely. A separate vent cover ensures that the weather stays on the outside. In addition, the outer tent entrances can also be opened from the top, and the inner tent door has a full no-see-um mesh panel covered with an equal sized, zipper-adjustable fabric panel for greater venting and weather-protection options.

The seams are leaking alot. This doesn't happen on my other Hillebergs and I've had to use seam sealer whilst camping. Also, in a recent severe rain storm the wind pushed the rain through the top vent leaving us with alot of water inside the inner tent and wet sleeping bags. Don't get this tent for wet weather. There are other issues with condensation that wind and rain risk getting you wet. Hilleberg have other tents that are better in extreme wet weather. It is very strong against wind. Also does good when the wind changes direction and is certainly more stable and quieter than the tunnel tents. Lastly, I'm not sure but I am wondering if I was given a display tent or a used. Everything was clean and spotless except there is wear on both storm flaps and the top vent where they both come into contact with the outer tent. A folded or rolled tent can't do this, it would have to be set up and taut.
