Vauden Hogan Ultralight served as an apartment on a trip of just over three weeks in Spain. We wanted a tent that would be small and light, but would also withstand decent rain. So far, I haven’t come across a single-story tent that would work well in rain as well, so a two-story tent was sought. During the first week, Spain rained more than normal a year. The next two weeks continued in a similar way, so the fire at least tested the tent's water resistance. The outer fabric is thin but perfectly waterproof. The inner fabric is also waterproof or at least the condensation water dripping from the ceiling drained off nicely. The doorway of the inner tent is partly a dense net, which of course breathes well, but on the other hand condensation water dripping into it comes through. That is, when condensation water drips from the roof onto the inner tent and a drop happens to drip against the net, it comes annoyingly through the net directly to the face. Often tents have a fabric on the door in addition to the net that can be pulled over the net. However, Ultralight lacks it. I think this has been saved at the wrong point. Even in high winds, the fabric would work better than a net. The bottom of the tent is very thin, and especially in rock, its durability was initially frightening. However, the bottom withstood very sharp rocks and was completely waterproof, although many times we woke up from the puddle. The tent practically floated on the water, but nothing came in. An extra base fabric is also available for the tent, which could be a good purchase if you camp a lot on a rock. Ultralight is partially self-standing. The support structure is very sturdy; support sticks metal and thick. A repair block is also included, with which the broken support stick can still be played. In principle, the tent can be set up even in a garage, but without hooks to be installed on the ground, the foot end will pile up a bit in the sides. Absid also needs one Haan to stay in shape. We camped mostly on rocky terrain, so we couldn’t use hooks. Instead of logs, we used loose stones, which worked surprisingly well. On the other hand, if there are no loose rocks nearby then setting up a tent on a rock can be tricky. The tent has been made as light as possible, so the extra support rods have also been omitted. In their own use, those bad tent sites come up against more than the good ones, so a completely self-standing tent would be better, even if it gained a few hundred grams more weight. The tent withstood very strong winds when the outer fabric was tensioned with hooks. If no logs were received, the wind sadly weighed the tent into the pile. The tent is quick and easy to set up, even alone. The inner tent is hooked to the support frame, and the outer fabric is easy to clip. The length of the tent is comfortable, we were able to sleep well (180 & 163cm) even though there were always a couple of backpacks at the foot. In the lateral direction, there is enough space for two, but no extra. In the middle of the tent you can sit with your back straight, but if there are two people in the tent, then sitting in the middle is of course a bit awkward. Although there was room for improvement, the Ultralight worked surprisingly well under difficult conditions. A good alternative to the BD Lighthouse if you want a light tent that is really water resistant.

Based on monthly camping, the tent is ideal, at least in the tropics. The tent was well placed to carry, among other things, a mile up the mountainside. The tent withstood the daily downpours well, although splash water splashing through the ground can sometimes reach the tent’s storage bags. There was also no condensation inside as temperatures dropped, not even when camping next to the creek. The tent is easy to set up, but setting it up perfectly requires little adjustment on sloping terrain. The space in the tent is suitable for two large people to sleep even if they don’t even have a relationship. The height of the particular tent is pleasing in terms of size, what this does for wind resistance I don’t know, but probably the teardrop-shaped tent withstands the wind when directed correctly. Unlike many other things, the tent did not inspire mice and rats to mill holes. 9+ or the best product
