Really good. Supports the back and can carry what you need (and extra) without your shoulders being out of alignment. You can put a tent or tarp between the backpack and your spine, even if it's wet, so that it doesn't wet other equipment and the weight comes very close to your back. Works well with or without a protective vest. The chest strap moves up and down a little when in use, it can't be locked.
