The main reason why I bought this backpack is it has a detachable lid and when removed the main pack falls within the 55cm max for carrying onto aircrafts and storing in the overhead bins on European flights and the lid is also within the size that's allowed under the seat so I do not have to check my winter thru hiking backpack into the hold as I have had a pack destroyed before on the conveyor belt when there was no wrapping facilities at the airport. Even with my tent, winter sleeping bag and 3 days food there is still lots of room left inside, the front mesh pocket has good stretch to store all my rain gear and the side mesh pockets have good stretch also perhaps too good as larger items have a habit of falling out as it is not possible to lash everything down with the little tension cord inside the pocket. But because the pack has ample anchor points for adding additional bungy cords this has resolved this issue ( see photos) Overall the pack is comfortable when carrying 13kg but I have still not really got use to the trail running sternum design as I find it combursum in comparison to the traditional sternum strap. My biggest complaint is the pack squeaks when loaded above 8kg no matter how I load it , I know I will get used to it and perhaps it's just a fault in my pack and not all of them. I do miss not having hip belt pockets for keeping stuff in I want easy access to but I wear a Hip/Bum/Fanny pack with it that helps and the two shoulder strap pockets are good. Because of the hip belt design it is not possible to add any pockets on the hip belt. Although I have not used the pack yet during a heavy rain days I think there may be an issue with water pooling inside the side mesh pockets where the mesh is attached to the same type of material as the main pack that joins onto the hip belt the design gives it the wrap around the hip comfortable feeling but I can see rain water pooling there, I will have to wait and see, but I would have liked to see drainage holes in the outside pockets.
