I bought this smaller bottle with the idea that for colder season hikes I can make this into a thermal bottle. I originally thought about the weight, because I try to hike as light as possible. However, the 0.5L bottle was a positive surprise: it feels good in the hand, helps to drink more when hiking in the heat, and the sports drink capsule is easy to throw in through the large opening.
