Product description
Built to perform on variable terrain and rolling hills, the MIL 160 delivers exceptional edging capabilities and provides ample control on descents. Its stiff camber allows for greater weight distribution across the entire length of the ski, making it ideal for larger users and those skiing with a heavy pack. With an overall narrow profile, the MIL 160 is efficient when traversing across flat ground, yet still provides the grip needed for extended climbs.

Delivery fast and without problems. Skis used in forest, both dense and more open ground for winter hunting. The skis bear my weight (110+kg incl gun and backpack) excellently even really loose snow. (I guess the Finnish Army knows what they need) The skin provide excellent grip, even on rather steep, snowy climbs. Equipment really meant to be used for terrain skiing in loose snow. Works better than my 8,5ft long wooden skis! However, they are not meant for skiing on hard, packed snow (snowmobile track, prepared tracks) as directional stability is hard to achieve. The glide is excellent, but on packed snow in uneven terrain the skin may loose contact with the snow due to ridges and holes, and then there is no grip at all. This makes it easy to fall as the skis the slip backwards. Ski poles with variable length is highly recommended to handle varying depth of snowcover. + - Stays on top of the snow, even in deep, loose snow! Excellent grip when skin is in contact with the snow. Made for above average weight of skier in unprepared terrain. - - Very hard to get directional control when on hard, packed snow. The high glide factor in the front and back of the ski, makes it easy to loose balance if the skin part looses snow contact on e.g uneven terrain.

Very easy to handle and easy to ride skis! Normal marching/snowing in loose snow in the forest or loose/firm snow on the bare mountain is excellent. The fact that you can't go faster than that is not the purpose for, for example, hunting or other longer tours. The glide on downhill runs does not correspond to a pair of normal skis, but when hunting or tours with a heavy pack it is rather an advantage in my opinion.

They are well suited to forested and relatively flat terrain. These are not the most suitable choice for open terrain

Previously tested a shorter model. Compared to expectations, no surprises. Suitably agile and capable. Directional stability hard, a little wobbly. I think it works best with slightly packed snow.

Good sliding snowshoes for the closed, but the lateral grip is weak. The calculation is possible as long as the slope is steep enough. As a rule, there is enough grip for vertical climbs. Ties are a minus, they squeak and squeak quite a lot, the choice of shoes affects this to some extent.

How to choose snowshoes
