Product description

Multifunctional and resource efficient – the Bluestrait Mid ES is a higher-cut winter boot for active everyday winter use. With a waterproof, breathable and PFC-free HANWAG EcoShell membrane, insulating merino wool footbed and robust Perwanger leather upper.

The Bluestrait Mid ES is a secure winter boot with a non-slip grip. Fibreglass-reinforced grip inserts embedded in the Fiberbrake outsole ensure that its load bearing zones provide a unique level of traction. The specially-developed winter rubber compound stays, soft, pliable and grippy in sub-zero temperatures. In addition, the aggressive tread pattern on the outer edges of the soles give excellent traction through loose snow or slush. And the 3D IPU midsole construction guarantees a perfect fit and allows the foot to roll effectively for a smooth roll off. Its three-dimensional structure is made of stabilising 3D injected polyurethane (IPU) and expanded polyurethane (PU). The raised edge of the sole offers greater support on all sides and at the heel.

To ensure that your feet stay dry, the Bluestrait Mid ES has a PFC-free PU membrane with a sturdy three-layer laminate construction. The outside of the upper is given an additional PFC-free waterproof finish and its soft inner lining fabric is made with 70% recycled polyester. The comfortable and breathable footbed is composed of a combination of odour-inhibiting, insulating merino wool (mulesing-free) and fully recycled PU foam made from offcuts. Long-lasting and resource-saving, we combine high-quality, natural Perwanger suede leather with terracare® nubuck leather from the Josef Heinen leather factory and 100% recycled upper fabric.

Winter use behind. In my opinion, despite the friction advertising, the shoe does not differ much from the grip of a normal winter shoe. Fairly slippery on icy surfaces. Pretty hard on the heel, otherwise quite good to walk on. If the seller had invested a little in the matter and brought another size to try on and not left the place in a flash, the shoe would now be the right size. These proved to be too small for the tip on a long walk. Sellers on Varustenet often have a squeamish attitude towards those in need of help and assume that everyone knows how to choose hiking boots correctly as if they were born to do so. Buying hiking shoes is a little different from buying regular sneakers.

Good feeling shoes, good on snow. The warm lining and waterproofing are a plus. I recommend!
