Product description

The VJ Sarva Polar is a light and agile stud shoe for wintry outdoor activities. Shoe’s waterproof upper is made of durable Rip-Stop nylon. The upper is soft, adapts well for foot’s different shapes and together with fleece lining makes the shoe comfortable to wear. Your feet will stay warm and dry in the wintry outdoor weather. Shoe’s precisely shaped last offers room for toes to move and spread out. The EVA midsole insulates from cold and dampens hits from the ground making sure your feet stay comfortable during longer winter adventures.

The VJ logos on the side and on the back of the shoe act as safety reflectors which offer added safety when adventuring in the winter dark.  The Superior Contact outsole has star-shaped carbon steel studs that ensure the best grip on the planet even on icy surfaces. On hard surfaces and inside, the outsole’s rubber lugs will take care of the grip and comfort.

The studs don't hit the ground when the rubber studs are so long. That's why they're more slippery than regular shoes. It may be that the rubber pins would be flexible enough for a heavier person. The good thing is that you don't hear the crunching of studs when you walk, for example, on a stone floor in a shopping center. The sole is wonderful, suitable even for wide flippers used to barefoot shoes.

Bought as a gift. It is a good idea to cut the rubber studs so that the studs have an even better grip. These shoes are not intended to go to the store.

A good shoe: enough room for a thicker sock, relatively light to walk in, the sole works in any weather. At first it felt a bit clumsy, but after a little break-in it started to work. One star comes from the bad laces that are standard on the shoe (thin and slippery, i.e. difficult to tighten and can't stay on). I changed the Hanwag straps and after that it works.

I actively walk about 20 kilometers a day. That makes almost 600 a month. That's why I can judge quite quickly whether a shoe is good or bad. These shoes have a very comfortable fit. The grip is very good, as is the insulation. A shoe with size 42 has rarely fit me so well, there are no pressure points. The material also repels wet snow very well, it does not stick to the outer skin. As a result, there is no direct transfer of cold. I would only wish for half numbers (e.g. 42.5). But that is the only point of criticism. I think I will only buy VJ winter shoes with spikes in the future. Overall great value for money!

At first they felt really good on the back and the studs were very slippery, but they weren't slippery inside. They are also quite warm in small frosts, I haven't tried it in really cold ones yet. However, on the second day of use, they started to rub the heel side of the ankle so badly that I had to change the shoes. Hopefully that will get easier with time, so that otherwise good shoes won't go unused.
