Backpack or pannier? With the versatile and innovative Vario PS, you no longer have to ask yourself this question. Featuring Ortliebs Quick-Lock attachment systems on one side and a padded carrying system with chest strap and ergonomic shoulder straps on the other, The Vario PS transforms from backpack to pannier faster than ever before. A so-called Flap with an integrated pocket covers the side that is not in use. And for any items that you need quick access to, there is a zippered outer pocket. Everything else can be accessed via the practical and proven roll closure, including your laptop for which a padded compartment is provided. This waterproof hybrid bag is PVC-free and sustainably manufactured in Germany.

I bought this as a replacement for my Ortlieb Vario pannier which served me well for four years of daily use. The conversion to backpack is even easier than the Vario's; the backpack straps are on the outboard side and do not dangle down, so for short journeys I don't even bother to flip the built-in cover over them as it's mechanically impossible for them to become caught in the spokes. The QL2.1 locking system is the same as on the Vario so fits immediately onto my rack. And the 26-litre capacity makes this pannier much more spacious than any other, yet the material still collapses easily to a more compact size when the full capacity is not needed. As always with Ortlieb, the product design and mechanical engineering have been very well executed. I wouldn't buy any other pannier.

Easy to use both when putting on the bike and when turning into feed. I haven't cycled in the rain yet... A bit heavy if you've only carried a standard backpack.

The bag has served me well on my commute for half a year now. My computer + office work clothes fit perfectly in the bag. The backpack pockets are easy to take out and hide back on the bike. Quality handle.
