In daily use in the city.
Plus:
- Thin base, the contours of the ground can be felt through
- Carry the little ones with you when moving by bike.
Cons:
- They grind a little
- There could be more room for the toes. From a barefoot shoe, I expected a completely toe-free toe box.

Very comfortable toebox, even if you have bunions. The socks adapt to the foot, but are not too wide in other places. The sizing chart, and the printable sizing aids on Skinners' website, can be trusted. Usually I have to size up for a shoe to fit, but these really fit well, as chosen according to the size guide, based on the length of the foot. Bought them for travelling, so far they've performed to expectations and beyond. They can be worn indoors on cold stone floors for warmth (I have very cold feet, so maybe people without that issue will find the socks too warm in some settings), and outdoors on rocks, pebbles, forest paths. Excellent traction and perfect feel of the terrain, without the risk of cutting your feet.

I used to buy barefoot shoes about 15 years ago and they have now come to an end. I had once seen a product like this on a crowdfunding platform and was already about to invest in a pair, but now I came across these in a brick and mortar store, so I was able to test them before making a purchase decision. Really pleasantly free feeling in the legs when you get these under! The socks have a thin insole, which was a small surprise, but quite a good addition, so that the stones don't feel sharp on the soles of the feet through the socks, even on longer distances. So far, I've only walked on rain-soaked ground once, and at least the socks underneath stayed dry. For cycling and driving, these cannot be praised as the best possible choices, but otherwise they are a great choice and a real alternative to barefoot shoes! Durability remains to be seen, but nothing negative is in sight.
