High-quality leather. Meticulous craftsmanship. Impeccable fit. Smooth, cushioned stride. Flawless foot support. Truly an exceptional boot. I wish I’d discovered it sooner. A note on sizing: I’m a size 41; I bought a 42.5, though I could have gone with a 43. Fortunately, I’m familiar with Meindl—I own a pair of Perfekts, and the sizing is the same. I’ll be using the Schlerns wherever there are paths or trails. The short distance I’ve covered so far (about twenty kilometers in the Pyrenees, where I live) looks promising! And no Gore-Tex—that unnecessary addition. My feet say thank you! Nature does too! It’s a shame Meindl is discontinuing the model.Excellent boots! Thanks Varuste for quick shipping to the United States. It was easier with payment and shipping then expected. Advise for everyone.

These shoes were almost the only ones suitable for my own use.
Decent unsanded surface leather does not let water through when greased, only at the end of a whole day of rain.
A sturdy sole with a rubber edging that goes around the shoe protects the shoe even in the worst weather.
And no "waterproof" membrane, just a regular leather interior. This way, when the shoe gets wet, it sometimes dries out. When I got soaked in the fells, I got these dry in one dry day.
The shoes have seemed very durable. At least a good month of snuggling up in the heart of Northern Norway didn't cause the shoes the slightest problem. For a change, something I can't break right away.
The only thing I don't like about these is the rather narrow space for the toes and the head.| Overall rating |
Absolutely amazing shoes!
I wear them every day at work. I am a carpenter/fustier. The lacing is amazing with the ball bearings at the bottom and the "stop" in the middle which allows you to tighten the bottom well and keep the top a little more open.
The interior leather is very fine and pleasant. Only problem: I should have taken a size above...
