Dive below the surface of Finland

Scuba diving, Water sports by Nina P., 27.7.2018
Can't see anything. It's too cold. It's too dark.
Maybe so, but if darkness and the chill does not tempt you, you hardly NEED to go there if you don't want to.
It's a matter of choosing your dive site. Even in a country size of Finland you will find something bright, light and shallow as well. You probably need to face the fact, that nothing warm is on the menu, but there is certainly something suitable for everybody from thousands of lakes to thousands of kilometers of coastline.

Many people are tempted by to execute your passion and try your hard-won skills in the waters close to your home town.
At the turn of July and August, the water temperature is also doable for those who have not yet been convinced of dry suit diving.
During the nordic summer it is also nice to spark up your normal day with some after work diving with a more experienced dive buddy who knows how the cookie crumbles around here or just simply hire yourself/ your entourage a divemaster to show you the best stuff around the local area. Try Diving School Aalto (Sukelluskoulu Aalto) for some nice, relaxed guided tours from a beach site suitable for the day

Diving School Aalto organizes a few "dive in Finland" tours resort during the summer, focusing on local techniques and what to expect to see at that time. It is essencial to have a little review on buoyancy control first, as both in the sea and in practically every lake, the bottom structure is covered with superfine silt, which easily lifts up to destroy the visibility.

After your first nice and easy wet suit dive in a reasonably warm summer day in Finland, you will get the idea if this is your thing or not - and if the experience sparks even the tiniest spark of joy we reccomend to proceed on to the dry suit course to conquer the whole of Finland's diverse dive seasons comfortabely.

If diving is not familiar at all, but you have been day dreaming about it, Finland is not at all a crazy place to take the next leap and register on to a diving course. You will be taught from the beginning to the use of a dry suit and how to cope with slightly more demanding conditions, so that you can equally dive all the worlds chilly and murky places with this tutoring. Without saying, if you can dive here, diving abroad in warm and visible places are pretty much a peace of cake.
